Sad...

This is my pal, Terra who crossed the rainbow bridge today. She was seven years old and it was very sudden. She had hemangiosarcoma but her mom never knew a thing was wrong until a couple of weeks ago. I had just played with Terra on Saturday, along with her "sister," Shanti. Terra seemed just fine, curious and playful as always. I went to that Fun Match with Shanti on Saturday - Terra stayed behind. That's because Terra received her "OTCH" last year and was enjoying a kind of retirement. The "Obedience Trial Championship" (OTCH) title is often referred to as the "Phd" for dogs. It is the highest obedience honor a dog can receive. Mom had just taken down the OTCH plaque for Terra on Monday evening after Sammie's obedience class, for the express purpose of bringing it home - finally - to Terra's mom. It had been on the wall of the Oakland Dog Training Club for almost a year. We delivered it on our way home.

Then... the news tonight. My dad and mom and I are stunned and extremely sad. I found a poem that I'd like to share.

They say memories are golden

well maybe that is true.

Terra - you were the second Golden my parents ever met. Even the grandpeep remembers you fondly, recalling your amazing "tricks" and spirit. You helped my parents and I meet through Norcal Golden Retriever Rescue. Terra; you will never be forgotten.
