Hiking in Mrs. T's Footsteps!

Whee! Today, we had a beautiful, albeit a bit of a breathy hike up a track called the "Terwilliger Trail." Mrs. T, as she was known, was a most delightful teacher in these parts for much of her 97 years. Always wearing her signature straw hat, towing a long line of kids behind, she'd tell stories about "Mr. Gopher" and others on her nature walks all over the county. One of mom's fave Mrs. T tales involved a trip she took to the Reagan White House to be honored as an extraordinary volunteer. The first thing she did was pick up the garbage outside the gates there. Later, she had Reagan flapping his wings in a "V" form, like a vulture! Good for her! You can find out more about her here. We are at Stafford Lake Park.

There were a bazillion geese out enjoying the amazing day...And a really nice little pond with trees that are just beginning to bud.

And tons of green grasses to fly through on our way to the trail.
I think Avalon's nose got corkscrewed up here!
Not much elevation, but when you start at zero... you do get some views!
Up, up, up through a multitude of forest layerings... from grassy meadow, through oak woods and we even charged through a small redwood grove - all so pretty!
Mom's camera battery died and she began using her phone here...
We were starting to get some nice views here! You should have seen us running!
The redwood pictures and photos from the top didn't come out booooohoooooo! But at the bottom again, we took a well-deserved cooling dip in the stream here!
I REALLY enjoyed my cooldown!!! And now, a challenge: anybuddy know what this thing, below, is? There are a bunch of them here - any guesses? Have a great weekend!

Hiya Sammie and Avalon! Boy - you don't know how much I woulda liked to be on that run with you. Sure is pretty country and it looks like the weather couldn't have been any better. Still a bit cold for me to take a dip here (so says my PUs) but now I can dip vicariously thru your picture! Thanks!

Woofs and dippin' slobbers,
Chester ;0=)

Pee. Ess. - I know what that contraption is but since I'm the first to show up, I don't wanna spoil it for the rest of your furiends.

We know what that is!! It's for Disc Golf...You throw Frisbees at it and try to get a hole in one. We have Disc Golf courses all around here and it drives us crazy, cuz dogs don't get to play! :(

Wow! What gorgeous pix! That Mrs. T must have been one remarkable woman!
Did you girls make friends with the gooses? I love gooses - sometimes I see some at the Kansas Ocean!
Avalon - I love your ears in that pic of the two of you running at the camera! Ha roo!
Play bows,
Zim
PS: We know what it is! The guy who lives across the street has one in his YARD! Dave keeps offering to catch the Frisbees for him, but he seems to prefer throwing them in that crazy contraption. Go figure!

Beautiful photos--even the ones from your phone! I didn't think phone pictures could ever look that good!

I've always wondered what those thingies were. I guess I thought it was some sort of hitching post, but I don't have a clue.

We'd love to see you. Fridays are absolutely great at our park. You and Sierra should come up and see us! Lots of other great goldens to play with!

Hi there, I came by to see what you've been doing and well remembered Mrs.T's area. I was just back in this area last week for a visit-I do miss the green hills of northern Ca.
The contraption, in case no one else guessed it, is for disc golf.
Thanks for sharing your great photos.
