Now I Am Four!

Hi Pals. Please visit Miley's sister, Maggie, who has been dealt a bad blow at 8 months old. We're also sending out a bazillion golden vibes to Phantom and Clive.
It's my very belated 4th Birthday! And Happy 4-month Barkday to Avalon too! We had a little celebration recently, even though (ahem... cough, cough) my Vet pronounced my official day of birth as July 1st. So... Mom is embarrassingly late in putting together a little celebration... We had a grrreat time anyway though, as you will see. (Note from Mom: We promised a Splashdogs post, but there were no photographers there this year and I just couldn't snap any pix or take movies while working with Sam and Avalon - but both had a ball there and so did Shanti! We really wanted to do our Sammie birthday post today! Have included a couple of splash pix at the end of this post - from last year!) Now... back to the important things! The first thing we did was play out on the patio, which was fun enough, except Mom totally insulted me! I certainly had an answer for her! Watch this little movie!

Then we did some wrastling before dinner - I always win - like my fighting stance from the floor?

Then I got to go to McInnis Park for a pre-party kong fest - that was pawesome! Avalon's starting to return her mini-kongball too! Then we left to get supper; well... one of my fave parts of the day! Finally, the party got going! Here are a bunch of pix that will show you all about it!

And finally... that heavenly, yummy Yoghund - Avalon and I just lapped and lapped at our bowls - seemed like it disappeared in seconds. Did you see the flavors? Apple with Cheddar, and Papaya with Peanut Butter. Oh that was tasty all right!

And to cool off those of you who are sizzling in various parts of the globe, here's a couple of pictures of me jumping from last year! Have a great weekend and see ya at the Hop!

Daytrip to Dillon Beach

As Ma was snapping this picture, she tripped over something and...

...well aren't these gorgeous? So here's where the peeps kinda had breakfast!

Dillon Beach is located in Sonoma County, just north of where we live. It's a great doggeh beach, cause we can go unleashed! It's about a mile long and ends at a lookout across a channel that divides the Pacific Ocean from Tomales Bay - right on the San Andreas Fault Line hehehe!

Instead of parking at Dillon Beach today, we decided to drive on through to Lawson's Landing.
The Landing is a campground at the very end of Dillon Beach; there's a wonderful view of one arm "end" of the Point Reyes National Seashore where you can see Tule Elk. Here's a little movie of Avalon and me having some Zoomies which we needed badly after the long car ride!

And here are some more pictures of us having a cool time on Dillon Beach as the tide let out.

Yuuuummmmmzers! Something smells absolutely splendid!

My sis needs to learn sand management.

Mo' zoomers!

A pelican hunting for dinner - never saw what he caught, but his dive was impressive!

And a million gulls...

Smellin' them... on your mark...

Gotta get me one!

Then we checked out the boardwalk/fishermans' area at Lawsons'. What do you think these kids were lookin' at?

Ewwwwwwwwww! Neither me or Av were even slightly interested in those.

But we got lots of attention from this guy! Look at all the doggehs!

And here's another, if you look closely! He did not appreciate our coming too close.

It was too cool to witness the boat launch here. $20.00 gets you tractor service; boat to truck or the reverse!

Then you won't believe what we saw on the way home. Turkeys! And a baby turkey!

And then Mom finally looked to her left and saw that! What a great day! Hope you had a wonderful weekend. Sending golden vibes to our pals who are in need.

A Secret Place...

Despite the fact that I blatantly display pictures of me swimming around here, I have been unable to find a DOCK from which to practice something I learned to chatter my jaw about last summer: Splashdoggin', Dock Diving... you name it... I absolutely "hearted" jumping off a "cliff" to dive in deep waters to chase my kong!

I'm very excited to be entered into a Splash Dogs event about an hour north of us in a week, but I needed a place to practice. Mom scoped out a place a couple of months ago and finally... me and Shanti (who's also entered) went to check it out!!!

Okayokayokayokay.... when do I get to go?????? NOW, Sammie! Here's a little show of Shanti and me (mostly Shanti, cause Mom was trying to hold Avalon, while tossing me my kong and take pictures at the same time heheh!) Enjoy!

We can't wait for da real thing! Shanti and I think Avalon should enter... whaddya think of our little idea?

Summer Things...

Again, that assistant of mine says she's been "crazy bizzy," but I don't think that's a very good excuse for ignoring my blog and even more important, ignoring yours - YOUR new posts. We are gonna try to catch up (again!) in the next couple of days! Actually, there has been a lot going on in my Peeps' lives, which we will tell you about soon... it's exciting! Meanwhile, it's finally warmed up out here and we've been doing a lot of swimming and also some visiting. First up are some pictures from a trip we made to Avalon's birthplace to see her Mom, Sporty, and her two brothers who got to continue living at home!

Look at these "three on a tree"!!! Avalon is left, Ronan in the middle and Thistle on the right. Love those black bellies! She was very happy to see her bros.! I couldn't believe there were "more" of Avalon!

Here's Avalon with her Ma, Sporty, looking very happy! We want to thank Ronan and Thistle's Dad, Don McKee for taking these great photos. Mom took a bunch of pictures too, but they were terrible! Avalon's brothers and Sport also live with K'Ehleyr and Lola - that's a houseful of Goldens, alright! We had a really cool time - thanks Don and Christine!
A few days after the BBQ that you read about in the last post, the Rangers at McInnis put on their annual party here to honor the doggehs who are always visiting this awesome place!

Here's Rob Ruiz handing a dawg to some doggeh's peep! The rangers really go all out, bringing three pools for us, snacks and food for doggies and humans, give an informative talk about canine plans for the park, and finally, they raffle off a lot of really good stuff! Everybuddy gets something! I brought home a bright blue leash with "Marin County Open Space" printed on it!

Scenes of doggies in and out of the big pool, our peeps and me taking a breather - I can't remember the name of that curly haired dude in the upper left corner, but he was a friendly pupper. Thank you McInnis Rangers!

And here we are outside of Sacramento, taking a needed break from a busy day with a dip in the American River. Ahhhhhhh how good it felt - it was about 100 degrees!

While Avalon chased her bumper, I paddled after my trusty kong, relishing the cool. Sacramento is in the central valley, where it does get really hot in summer, so this totally rocked!

WHEEEEEE! Have a good week, pals and stay cool!

What is This? - Wordy Wednesday

Grandpeep was doing something with this red ball the other day. Anyone know what it is and what she's doing? (I like to play with a ball once in a while, but she wouldn't let me fetch it heheh!)

Fun Match and BBQ with Dogs!

This club (they have great facilities in Santa Rosa and lots of cool classes!) put on an obedience fun match Saturday (tho we did miss y'all at the Hop), and I entered a couple of my very first practice "Open" classes. Dad sat by the ring and taped my performance. Twice, I decided I had to leave Ma for a sec to go say hi to him. Apparently, that was not a good idea. (He just looked as if he could use a few licks.)

Here are a few of us, just hangin' between classes. I also had to do very long sits and downs - with Ma out of sight. On my down, I got up for a bit, then lay down again. Ooops. If you want to see me do a final Broad Jump exercise (with a bad front - oops), you can see it here. Then we were on to better things!

Here I is, waiting for some human to throw me my kong. Below is a collage of McInnis Park, where I go to play and also practice obedience a couple of times a week. It's a pretty nice place and close to my pad. Ma can park in the shade, so Avalon can hang in the car while we play... well...until the lil tyke is allowed to go on doggeh park grass (next week, I hope!).

Ooops - think there are two identical pix in that! And below, I'm getting ready to toss my kong at somebuddy's foot, hoping that they will throw it again heheh!

Here are some of my doggie pals - some of you is missing from this collage. Dumb Ma has forgotten some of your names and didn't get your pictures, although I tried to woof them to her.
Even though this wasn't a golden event, a lot of us seemed to have shown up!

It looks like Olivia and Roxie are trying to get the dogs away from Maureen!

Look at all the puppers who came! And so many of us were so hungry for those dogs too... well, most of us got yummy treats! Thanks so much for putting on this great party - we had a wonderful time!

A Ducky Day Near Pescadero!

Around 9:30 a.m. on July 4th, Dad, Mom, me, Avalon, Sue and Shanti arrived in Pescadero for an interesting day at a beautiful spot close to this sign.

Lovely Jones Lake is part of a property owned by a Nursery that leases the land to groups who practice for hunt tests with their dogs. As such, it is very private - we felt incredibly fortunate to have been able to share Independence Day with only a couple of other people and their dogs! What a treat it was going to be for our little pack to see what dogs who train for hunting have to do! But first, we had some fun; actually, we had a blast throughout the entire day!

This is a little collage to show that when we got up close and personal from the rowboat, that it was really quite wild. You can biggify. As you saw in the slideshow, there are lots of birds and ducks and probably turtles too! (I'm sure there were frogs, Norwood, but we didn't see or hear any!) The other doggies you see in the movie are Shanti, Cadence, Musette, and Shanti's brother, Rondo.

Thought I was stuck in the rushes for a moment!

Lunchtime, Dad!

My favorite part of the day was swimming after my kong on a rope of course, but as you can see, my sis has learned how cool it is to swim after something too - like a big bumper! And if you aren't too squeamish about things that sporty doggies learn to do (they chase down fowl), You can click here to see what Avalon learned about. (I don't have a clue as to where she thought she was going, though...)

Just wanted to hang and swim, eat a little (LOT) and chase my kong. Hope you had a great 4th! We want to thank Debbie and Nelson a bazillion times for inviting us to spend such a peaceful day at Jones Lake, as well as Sue and Shanti - we had a ball!
