Our Journey...

Think we forgot to tell you a lil bit about what sort of vacay we're on! Last September of 2011, Dad retired. He and momzers got an RV and decided to plan a trip across the country, visiting national parks on the way to Maine (where's that?) for a family reunion. That's a long trip from northern California! Anyway, this blog is now a record of our travels across the good ole U.S. of A. and even Canada - plus all the things we get to do and see! We started our journey mid-March and hope to be back in NoCal by mid-October - yeah!

Fleet Weeks and Fun Matches Do Not Match

If my assistant could figure out how to create a bubble for me, I'd have a long story to tell today. I'm very upset with her because it's been almost a whole week since I've gotten to post, and besides that, she's barely commented on your fine blogs. Things have gotta change around here and pretty darned quick. So here's some of the scoop and it's not all good.

First of all, there have been no pictures of anything I did this week, and I did quite a bit. Then... when I'm NOT permitted to go along with my peeps (the indignity of it!), they take hundreds of photos. How do you like them apples? So yesterday, my dad was invited to take mom on a yacht thingy with some of his work cronies in order to sail around the SF Bay to see...

THESE. I've seen a couple of pix like these on a couple of blogs and they do look cool, but I would have like to have gone, so I could have made up my own mind about whether they were good or not.

I mean, I guess it's pretty good when you can travel at 500 miles an hour about 3-4 feet away from another jet without a major catastrophe.

Speaking of which, there were so many boats out on the bay, that apparently dad and mom's boat almost crashed into that sailing craft up toward the bow there. See?

Here's another near miss.

I have to hide my eyes from this one.

Nice day over the Bay Bridge... at least it looks like it. But the Blue Angels themselves got cancelled. I don't think anyone minded too much. They'd been around here practicing all week. I promise you cause I know this: they are ve-ry LOUD.
The Fun Match
If a peep wakes you up early and mentions "fun match" you can bet that it's not. It's work and I have to think and remember so much.

I'm doing a figure-eight here around two people that they call "posts."

"Watching." I promise you... if I had a dime for each and every time mom has said, "watching," I'd be filthy kibble and stuffy-rich.

THIS TIME, finally, the judge really likes me lots and doesn't have a word of criticism. That's good, cause the next fun match is a real trial next month. Well we'll see.

Good girl. (And a dime for that one too.) Mercy, I'm tired.

These guys were watching us pack up as they were getting ready to leave too. WOOF!

Gonna get me some well-deserved rest. Catch ya on the flip side. I've missed y'all lots this week.

Good to hear from you. We get some of those loud flying machines over us sometime, too, but they aren't playing like that. Apparently they like to run the ridges of the mountains for some kind of training. As close as they come to us, we hope they are trained well.

Hi, Sammie!
I have seen those flying machines on tv! To watch them in pawson must be very exciting!
Glad you had fun at your matches!

Looked a bit rocky on the bay yesterday, but sill must have been fun for your folks. And, the FUN MATCH! Yea!!! Was it somewhere as chilly as here, home? You did GREAT..I am sure you won an award or two, just for your super smile and great attention! I've MISSED YOU!!!!
Hugs and snaggle-tooth kisses,

Oh yeah, getting up early and "fun" rarely go together! But you must have enjoyed it a little ... ;-)

Hey Sammie,
When there's jet noise our dad says "Pardon The Noise; It's the Sound Of Freedom." When he flew Navy jets out of Alameda the pilots callsigns all started with Foggy. Dad was Foggy55. That fun match looks like it would be too tough for us. Dad says we'd have to pay attention and we're not very good at that. You must be superduper smart.

Momma has been talking about finding some fun matches for Brice as soon as he's a little further along in his training. He's been in the ring before but only had to stand around and look handsome.

So the humans got to have some fun and you got to go to a fun match. Why do they call it a fun match if it is all work. Hope you at least get lots of yummy treats for all that watching:)

Hey there, Sam
Wow, that is a lovely fun-filled post! Thanks for all the interesting snippets.
We love your attentiveness in the ring. You look sooo well trained that my mom is envious!...mmmphf! Not to mention that stunning coat of yours and your trim, fit and really in-shape body. Tell mom...my mom says CONGRATS.
Take care and be happy. It's nice to be friends.

Sammie, you looked so smart and so composed and so focused at the Fun Match. We just know that you are gonna be the star when you go to the next one.

Momma read a while back that your leg was hurt. What happened, kiddo? We was all worrieds.

Honey the Great Dane said...

Hmmm...that does not look like much fun to me, Sammie. You'd think that a "fun match" would involve digging for bones, rolling in stinky stuff and retrieving tennis balls! Sheesh these humans!
By the way, what are your trials for? Are you doing Obedience?

We certainly think you deserve LOTS of treats after all that good work!
We bassets can't concentrate you know - we would be useless at doing anything that requires focus.
We loved seeing those planes go zoom.
