A Perfect Lake Tahoe Hike

After all the fun yesterday, we drove southward around Lake Tahoe towards Emerald Bay.
Little did I know what a pupalicious day I was headed for. Mom and Dad took me on a hike up to Eagle Lake - a tarn (glacial lake) surrounded by the Sierra's Tahoe peaks.
C'mon - hurry up - this is gonna be great!

Whatcha waiting for? Hurry - I can smell all kinds of fun up there!

I think we should go this way - I always follow my nose.

Dad and Mom said I was a great trailblazer.

Go carefully here folks - it's a bit rocky.

Dang! Almost got that wily lizard - they are fa-aaast.
Here we are at about the half-way point with Emerald Bay below us, surrounded by Lake Tahoe.

Could that possibly be a marmot? I think it is - ooooh - be right back.

As we come around a corner and hike over the last crest, Eagle Lake lays before us. Isn't it magnificent? Click to watch a short vid of my enthusiastic arrival here!

Okay Dad, whenever you're ready to throw that stick, I'll oblige.

Met a new pal - I think his name was Jack - I hope his peeps don't find this bloggie and see that I forgot his proper title - big oops. But... I had lots of fun swimming with him, trying to play keep-a-way with the stick.
After he left, I swam for hours in this cool, pretty lake, chasing a stick. Stick-chasing may be a first for me!

Here's another first - I don't ever recall swimming with my dad!

Check out the majesty of this place.
But all great things seem to come to an end, so I took up my place as trailblazer again.

Happy and a bit tired as I pose with Dad - what spectacular scenery.

Well, I got them up and down safely, so I celebrate this bridge crossing towards the jeep with paws on railing, so I can see the pretty waterfall below. Thanks for coming along on my journey with me to Eagle Lake. Mom promises that she'll catch up on bloggies this week. I know she's been wretchedly behind.

Yeah, we are jealous of the no leash thing too. Momma is totally too paranoid to ever let us off leash. But we can enjoy wild adventures through our friends such as yourself.

Oh Sammie - I just loved your 2 posts about your hike! The pictures are so wonderful - your humans are great camera people! You look like you had LOADS of fun - diving, lizards, following trails, making new friends...whew! I loved all the collages. And I especially liked the photo of you giving your paw to your Mom...aww, so sweet! That street looked a bit like Europe! Really pretty town and such spectacular scenery!

Thanks for taking us along! My human says if they ever get the chance to travel across America, they will be sure to visit these places! :-)

Hey Samantha,
What a majestic area. You are lucky to get to go there. Mom's family still has a cabin at North Beach just across the street from the lake. Mom and dad went there a lot when he was stationed at Alameda. Rusty and Penny got to drive out there with mom from VA for a 3 week vacation. Dad flew out to Reno and drove back with them cuz he couldn't get 3 whole weeks off work at once. Penny and Rusty went swimming in Lake Tahoe at North Beach and a lady police was gonna give mom a ticket for it but she didn't bother when she found out mom was visiting from VA and would probably be "nonresponsive" to the summons. Mom pleaded ignorance because when she was little dogs used to swim in the lake all the time. We have lots of picture and dad still has a 5 gallon bucket of ponderosa pine cones out in the garage. We are jealous of y'all.

Our momma thinks that CA is one of the PURRtiest places on earth but we live in Michigan and that's that.

Domi, the therapy dog, has passed to the Bridge this weekend. Our blog contains her last letter to her friends. Please come to visit. It would mean so much to our momma and then go to Domi's blog to offer condolences. Momma is crying a lot today.

The scenery is beautiful Sammie but that 3rd pic of you at the railing beats out all the other pictures by a mile.
Isn't it fun swimmin' with a 2 legger even if they can only barely doggy paddle?
I don't even know why you came home. Probably took one heck of a nap, didn't ya?
Thanks for sharin' this awesome trip!
Chester ;0=)

Pee.Ess.-the bottle on the toilet seat was bowl cleaner. I just used a squirt or two and then used Mom's toothbrush to scrub all the ick away. heehee!
