Our Journey...

Think we forgot to tell you a lil bit about what sort of vacay we're on! Last September of 2011, Dad retired. He and momzers got an RV and decided to plan a trip across the country, visiting national parks on the way to Maine (where's that?) for a family reunion. That's a long trip from northern California! Anyway, this blog is now a record of our travels across the good ole U.S. of A. and even Canada - plus all the things we get to do and see! We started our journey mid-March and hope to be back in NoCal by mid-October - yeah!

Dogs Know...

Momzers and Dadzers had a wild weekend. Three grandpeeps (ages 7mos - 16 y/o) came to spend the weekend with us. I just loves when these kiddos come to visit and lick and hugs them to pieces. But lil' Emma Grace has some pipes on her and my cochlea are still ringings. After the overnights was finally done, I had a great run, but momzers and dadzers were exhausted, it seemed.

A "brunch" was had, so I heard, then a visit to the local bookstore for all, where I wasn't allowed. Mom and Dad were so exhausted, that I was a'scared that they couldn't drive home! Lil Emma ne're slept a wink. We did, actually get home, and here's what mama read and FINISHED. Six hours later (around 9pm), mom came to my bed, where I was jes' relaxin', and hugged and hugged me, tears pouring forth from her eyses. Must be an amazing book and as mom repeated, "dogs know."

Loves ya all xo,

I Have ALWAYS Eaten Too Much

When Cocoa and Barley (http://the2mightybeans.blogspot.com/) came up with this tag, they may just have had a pup like me in mind. Embarrassingly, Sierra Rose has tagged me with the "OOPS I ATE IT" award, cause she knows my history (cough). Do you have the time, bloggie pals, to read my epic about foodables (not to mention non-foodables) I've lifted over a 2-year course of time? Seat your butts and/or bodies down into a comfy place while I spin the saga of Sammie's (stolen) and mostly ingested items.

Okay... here are the rules to this award:
"When accepting this award, you must blog about the food you have stolen when your humans were not watching. If you have never stolen any food, you must have been a really good pup! You can accept this yummy tray of cookies as your reward! Next, add the logo of this award to your blog (optional), then nominate at least 5 other furry blogs and let them know by leaving a message on their blogs."
Well... I don't know if there's any "oops" to it, except mama's and dad's incompetence at catching me heheh! I weighed 64 pounds when I came to my furever home in May 2007. By the end of September, I had gained 18 pounds. Here's how:
In the first week, I destroyed an alarm clock, ate half a warm gingerbread cake and a potholder, two duck stuffies and a goose one. I munched on the contents of all bath waste baskets, worked on part of a door (plexiglas); when my attempts failed, I knocked it out and jumped outside to freedom. I bit and tore at two screen doors for freedom too. Then I found some form of food on a hike that contained marijuana - later it was not a pretty sight and required emergency vet treatment. Ate back hall carpet, a down pillow, 3 training bumpers, Ozzie's food, both wet and dry, breaking a dish in my attempts to get at it. Ate 2 cardboard boxes where mom's manuscripts resided. I ate corners of blankets, 2 of my Dad's shoes (not a match), apples and plums from backyard trees (that's why there's a wire fence out back today). I uprooted all the garden carrots I could find as well as mom's strawberries and tomatoes. Back in the house, I found two nicely cooked turkey breasts on the counter (WHERE were my keepers?) - got 'em plus a pound of raw turkey meat later that week. I'm very, very fast, and by now, very fat.
Ma put me on a strict diet, but that didn't stop me from trying on walks, trails and open space. I'd gobble any poo I could find - horse, deer, bunny or - at home, kitty roca. Disgusting but rare, any upchuck available. I will steal anything from mom's office waste basket that's non-recyclable. She has to watch what she tosses in there. Kitchen trash can is always a major target, but I really can't get to it anymore. I did manage to score three of dad's socks. But the peeps are watching me much more carefully and I'm very hungry, poor me. I think that's why I went for the G-L-O-V-E. What a fiasco that was. It was that event that really put me on constant surveillance. A dropped doggie treat, meant for another pup, or a grandpeep's carelessly held snack is my only fair game these days and it's been tough. However, I was back to a trim 64 pounds a few months later, where I've stayed for a long time. And that's the truth of my sicko crimelife. I need a program! I know that so many of you have posted about this tag, so please, if you haven't received this award, I'd love you to take it and blog about it! I will read it - every word, drooling.
Hugs xo
Pee Ess: I must, however, tag three particular bloggers, cause I'd really like to hear about the ingestions of stolen foodables (or non!)

Winner! Pressies! Such Goodies - Oh My!

First, gotta say that I believe mama got carried away with the big, bold red Post announcement yesterday. It still looks like a major emergency happened all over my page hehee! But most of all, however, I send humongously loud woofs to thank so many of you for commenting and/or e-barking and even Facebooking me yesterday. After scratching my head a bit and woofing with ma, we would probably do this differently if we had something like this again. As we mentioned to the twenty-two of those who emailed, we wish we only had 4th email places in our box hehee, but we don't. We want to congratulate the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, Sedona (http://tollertales.blogspot.com/) for being the 4th e-barker to paw my address yesterday! You'll get your goodies plus the Happy Hearts cookies very soon!!!

A true Awwwwwww pic of you, Sedona!

And in breaking news...

Ding dong! (Lots of Wuffa greetings...) This smells outrageously delicious!!! I can only tell that the package is from Ohio - hmmmmm - it's not my barkday... hmmmmm.

I wrestle with the box, but am not nearly as dextrous as my pal, Mason Dixie, who is a pawsome Houdini at getting goodies out of packages!

Oh my dogness! Look at these goodies! A huge bag of Salmon treats from Zuke's (I LOVE these!) and some more treats that are blueberry and pumpkin flavored - they smell so good that mom is going to figure out how to use these ingredients for a people recipe!

There is the cutest squeaky stuffie (I'll try not to demolish it, promise!) and BuBBLES - for humans to entertain me! Mom loves making bubbles for me!

And we finally figure out who to thank for these fabulous pressies! Gus and Waldo pawed these to me in friendship - how sweet is that? Thank you so much, sweet Gus and Waldo and mom, Allison. What a generous spirit - I just love these gifts and foodables; a zillion woofs! Please drop by to sniff around Gus' and Waldo's place at http://reflectionsofadogmom.blogspot.com/ for some fun!

Look at my state of bliss as Dad feeds me the blueberry and pumpkin treats! YUMZERS!!!

100th Post Give-A-Way

I am so excited to be celebrating my 100th Post!

My mama's been collecting toys and goodies for more than a year and put everything aside for this day. Below is a picture of the pile. Hates to say, but most everything is for bigger doggies, but there is a "CUZ" that's small and a picnic blanket that can be used for people with their all-sized pups! All you need to do is email me at samanthae17@gmail.com. The fourth doggie to ebark me wins! How simple is that hehee? The winner also will receive a Happy Hearts package - yay!!! I look forward to finding out who to mail off these goodies to! Thank you to all my blogger friends who have been patient with me lately as my mom has been working pretty hard, trying to get snippets of comments in here and there when she can take my dictation. I look forward now to posting the next 100!

I know I look pretty tired here, but I'm really very happy! My hat has LED lights and is part of the giveaway - hope you like it!
Hugs, xo Sammie

Ozzie Gives Blogging a Go...

I'm Ozzie. If the big dumb blonde comported herself in a manner more suited to my quiet, rehearsed ways, we might be better pals. But I do like to watch the goldie galumph around with her friends. They cause me to laugh deep within, for everytime they run, it's as if an earthquake takes place. Such heavy-footedness - sheesh! Okay, enough of a prelude. I've lived here longer than DB, as I call her, so I'm really the rightful queen of the land. I've demanded equal time over the last few months, and today, I'm finally getting some. Finally.

So yesterday afternoon, I was minding my own business and having a bit of a bath before dinner and look who showed up.

On the fence directly above my head. The arrogance! Besides, I don't like being disturbed while bathing.

Flying feather dude interested me - you better believe!

I sat up and glanced his way.

He didn't go far. Look what the mompeep attached to my neck. A collar that CAME with two bells and then she added two more with a velcro attachment along with a tag!!! I make so much noise that I frighten the garbage truck. So I just watch from a distance, knowing that the flighty creature is safe for now.

I can get up there too, you know - hehee!

But I just think I'll have a rest before supper on this warm patio. Thanks for stopping by my first blogging attempt. Have a great weekend all kitties (and other aminals).

Variation on a Theme...

... and wait til you set your eyes on this! Even though some pix are blurry, I gotta share something I saw at the park. Sierra and I made a playdate to meet at McInnis. There, I introduced Sierra to some old pals, including Olivia, who proudly pranced us over to meet her new sister, Scout. OMDogness! Another pup????? So many baby doggies this summer! Here we are checkin' out the pupster.

Pretty fluffy - you'll see her sweet mug in a sec!
Nuzzling to make sure she's a doggie.

Sierra will show Scout the ropes (hehe!)

Okay, I'm tired already.

Bye Scout... Hey Sierra - let's go wrassle.
Note from Mama: I've gotten to a few blogs to comment, but will play catch-up this wkend - sorry for the absence - love you all xo - signed, the secretary.

Deep Quackers

Preview of Things to Come...
It's fur - fur now hehe - but feathers will fly soon...

And there sits "Feathers" right in front of the R-E-F who just might toss an orange flag on the play for intrusion of space.

Nope - no flag. Just a huge warning to a surprised Sierra Rose!

Ma - strange creature over there, but I did manage to capture this ducky duck.

Look what I found? I can get behind a duck like this!

Oh Sierra, you picked my favorite squeaky! Come chase me - maybe (yeah, sure!) you can get it back from me hehe!

What a valiant attempt!!!! At this point, just to tease (next time, ma, get the movie camera fixed so you can hear an ode to my brilliance here) and entice little Sierra Rose to madness, I rapidly shake my teeth against each other, making the duck quack incessantly and in quick succession. I swear that the ducks from our nearby Civic Center pond were making low passes to see if one of their own were crying for help.

Quackquackquack.... ad nauseam, but as long as it was still making her crazy, I kept it up.

"Wackaquackwackaquack... quackwack..."

Well the Ref finally stepped in, charging me with illegal bullying hissing: "Okay - time to close up shop - I'd like to hold onto my hearing for the duration of my lifetime - game over." (ya nutty blonds...)

Hey Sierra - next Tuesday at four?

Better Ways to Chase Balls

You'd think that on a Saturday morning, the peeps would let me sleep in. I'm just out of the teen years and need my zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzs. But no... got wakened up around 0-dark-hundred, given my breakfast and hauled off to... where? Never saw it before and I hope to never see it again. (Woulda been nice to have backpacked up that mountain though hehe.)

Dad and Ma packed me off instead to a place of green grasses, where I, for the most part, wasn't allowed, to watch them hit balls with sticks. I can tell you about sticks and balls better than any human I know, but this was a total snoooooozzzzzzze.

Dad wears these funny shoes - check 'em out - then stands there on this fake grass. You couldn't fool me.

Look how serious these peeps are - hahahahahahahahahah!
Looka Ma! What you trying to prove, anyhoo?

I never thought oldest grandpeep woulda succumbed to this. Sheeesh! I could tell all of them how to chase balls with sticks hehe!

Part II - Spurned! And... a Lovely Award

Well, I tried. Evfurrything I could. Playbows, "Sammie-invitational-groans" that I can find from deep within when I'm so inspired and... Nothing, Nada, Zero... she's such a snooze...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. And... she very non-chalantly spurned my attempts - and on World Cat Day, no less - to offer her my bouncy, gallumphing company with ever such a slight upturn of her jaw. I wish she weren't so standoffish. The nerve!

Yeah... I sorta hurt, but quickly found another pal to play with. Goodhearted soul that I am, I'll keep trying!

And on another front, I was so very honored to receive this magnificent award from Nigel, Sola and Truffles at Life with Dogs (http://feeds2.feedburner.com/NigelSolaCo). A zillion licks and woofs for this thrilling and pawesome golden hydrant! If you haven't yet checked out Life With Dogs, go and sniff around their blog now!

Hugs xo,
