From One Bay to Another...

Howdy finally! I've been nudging Ma to get the posts going again for almost a week, but she's been so busy and then got sick, which is bad for her work supposedly, but awesome for me heheh! But not for blogging! Finally, I get to not only see what she's been up to, but also to get some pressies which are long overdue from my parents' trip yahoo! Not that I missed them much, you understand - I had such super care from people I know and love that it didn't even occur to me to miss Mom and Dad haha! (Note from Mom and Dad: we missed Sammie so much that we hugged every doggie we saw - see below - in Talkeetna, where McKinley climbers get their act together. We were uncommonly lucky on this trip, for the weather was almost always blue skies and above 50 degrees. My hubby tends to have great weather karma, but I was blown away by our luck. We saw Mt. McKinley four days in a row with blue skies everywhere. Still, climbers let us know that the winds were fiendishly bad.) Max in Talkeetna - giving him a hug before a horseback ride.
Example of an awesome view of Denali from the back of my horsie!

Again... blue skies near Lumplagh glacier in Glacier Bay.

Okay... enough about mom and dad on their vacay. Look what the Dughallmor Beagles sent me by none other than "Royal Mail!!!!" Can you dig that? Squeekie toys, so soft and fun to play with and the yummiest treats I ever did taste! Look at me smell them!

And I love my yellow soft squeeks toy! Thank you ever so much!

, And now... check out what mum and dad brought home for me from Alaska! Soap for a bath (yuck!), a couple of doggie bandanas with moose and bear all over them, a leash, a winter warm-up Ititdarod warmer, a collar with bandana sew-up thingy around it and some... yeah! TREATS! Wild salmon! And believe me, they are yumzers!

Look at me gobble these up! Thanks for these!

Here I am wearing my new collar from Alaska and even though you can't see it, the leash is attached!

I feel like an Athabascan doggie with my kerchief worn this way - isn't it cute?

And check out my pawsome Itidarod winter warming collar that I'm sure I'll have to wear when I go to Tahoe to ski - ahem - cough cough!!!

Finally, I got to play thank dogness! Here I am - chasing my beloved kong in the Marinwood Creek. Man was I happy when I got to do this again!

Chaco - sorry if I got you soaked down.

Oooohhhh, ma - that's a hard one for me to get.

Golly - I've had to become part rock climber! Hey Ma - get me a harness already!

Sproinggggg!!!!!!!

Shake shake! "Shaken not stirred" for this pup!

So glad to be back -here's a shot from the Tracy Arm Fjord at the Sawyer Glacier 50 miles S. of Juneau. My mom and dad loved this place but say that even though they want to go back really bad, they won't go without me heheh!!!! Now it's time to catch up with all of your goings on!
Hugs and xo, Sammie

Mom and dad are coming home in a few days.... Hoooray!

I've been having some great parkie times with my dear friend, Honey's mom....(Honey is now at the rainbow bridge). Honey's mom has given me lots of hugs, and taken me to our favorite places. We are always excited to see each other! And, I am super excited when my kong comes with us to the parkie.

There were some kong-snatchers at the park this day. But, I am good at keeping it under foot...or in my mouth!

I am going to be sooooooo excited to see mom and dad.....I have been getting brushed and bathed by my home host, so I will look all sparkly for my hoomans!!
I know mom and dad are having a grand time on their trip. Can't wait for their hugs when they get home! Just a few more days now.....
Hoooray!

Something's Afoot...

Something's afoot... and... I've known about it for a week at least...
See... these things have shown up and blown up... day by day.
I feel left out...
Note from Sammie's mom: Hubbie and I are about to celebrate our 4oth anniversary and we are going to Alaska for a couple of weeks. Sammie has a fabu nanny coming to care for her and guess what? There will be a mystery guest poster for Sammie in the next couple of weeks so stay tuned! Harroooooooooo! You will be able to keep up with her antics and quirks, so check in once in a while!

Diary of a Wild Hike

Last weekend, my folks took me to a Marin County Open Space area I hadn't explored. It was beautiful and we had it to ourselves... well... with the exception of some other creature species that I had to investigate. Here I am with my dad at the entrance.

Here's a beautiful California redwood! Aren't they impressive?
I've already spotted something up there. I can't convince it to come down and play heheh!

Yeah - I'm thirsty - so thirsty I could jump in - but it's for the horses.

Trot, trot, trot - ooops - missed something!

After I checked out that smell, I lead on as I needed to make sure I cleared the way of any beasts that could attack my parents.

Aha! Gopherland! Some likely candidates to flush out! Dang - missed him!

Beautiful wild iris - tons of them as we hiked on through the meadows and redwood groves.

Comforting my mom.

Hurry! There's so much to do... I smell something afoot up ahead.

Hurry............. I'm smelling something big...

Okay, I'm taking off. (I heard a crack in the woods and couldn't help myself. I took off after a gigantic furry creature that jumped gracefully over every rock and fallen tree. I couldn't keep up) Here I am returning to tell my folks all about it. They looked frantic.

Usually my recall is pretty good, but I just can't help myself. Gotta investigate this thing they called "deer" again. Their calls to me go unheeded.

But what is that? Yonder in the sky is a giant feathered menace. And I can not get him to come down.

We hike on through meadows with wildflowers and our own pretty California poppies.

I just love running through grassy fields in the spring! I'm very happy here!

THIS is the entrance to Lizardland. What a time I had here! You can imagine! I never caught one - they are zippity fast, so I don't know if they taste like chicken or what!

Can you spot me? I'm hiding!

But he is not hiding and I'm going to .... get him!

I jump in the air and pounce and... dang - missed again! That wascally lizard!

You'd think we were in the middle of nowhere, but... as mom pans the camera directly left... look!

Civilization! Drat! I thought we were all alone on this beautiful day!

I am so hot when we get to more redwoods, that I'm thrilled to find a tannin-y pool that I can cool off in.

In one of the giant trees, we find a hole that Dad and I can fit into together. Mom could even fit in with us!

I've never seen such big trees, but they sure have a lot of critters in them. I tried to get them, but they were too high up to climb to.

But I sure had a great time with my folks at this pretty place. There were a couple of minor problems. When we got home, mom and dad saturated themselves with something called Teknu to ward off a possible poison oak attack. ( I didn't know that was an enemy or I would have slayed it.) Then they got a Teknu-ed rag and slathered it all over me. Then I had to go to the spa. There, they removed about 100 ticks!!! They are still removing the little buggers from me and mom even took two out of her hair yesterday and screamed while doing so. Hope we get to go back there soon!
