An Award!

Sugar! I am honored and amazed to receive this kind award from you - Woof! You make me blush! I thank you from the bottom of my stitches and hope to learn enough computerese to make this "parallel universe" of my home life even better (not better than my home life tee hee)! I needs to work on the electronic skills! Thanks for being my pal here, on FB and Twitter! It's always great to connect!

Here I am , sort of sniffing out this award! I was on a trip to Tahoe a couple of summers ago when I was only a pup. I'd been living with my new peeps for just a couple of months. We hiked up a steep trail for a couple of miles into a part of the Sierras called Desolation Wilderness. There was a beaootiful lake at the top and of course, I jumped on in!
I'd like to pass on the Your Blog Is Fabulous award to a few pals I've met recently who are doing some very interesting things.
To Travis at http://snowballiii.blogspot.com/ for getting so many projects and contests going at record speed - it makes my head spin, Travis! I like the new look of your blog too! And the blog review club (which I need to join!).
To Honey at http://bighoneydog.com/honeys-blog/ for all the intriguing videos of Honey doing cool things as well as the presentation of other doggies doing the impossible. Much more info over there - check out Honey's (another Honey!) blog!
To Carolyn of Mountain Musings @ http://ncmountainwoman.blogspot.com/ who I just met a couple of days ago. With two dogs, this retired couple share their home and sights along the mountain trails of NC - lovely blog, gorgeous pictures!
To Alison @ http://reflectionsofadogmom.blogspot.com/ who tells a great story always and provides good info for bloggers too. Featuring Gus and Waldo, we follow their adventures as well as Mom's!
To Huffle @ http://hufflemawson.blogspot.com/ because Huffle has a great blog and I must start getting it together vis a vis furry things that aren't doggies. It's high time I began to get a couple of posts in about our Ozzie, who will need the support of creatures such as Huffle!
Congrats to all and huge thanks again to Sugar!
Hugs and xo,
Sammie

Dogness! Pressies from Mason Dixie!

You can't imagine my surprise and major tail wagging joy when I got this amazing box from Mason Dixie yesterday. It smelled soooooo yummy. Mom and her grandpeep brought it outside, where I investigated the box and then got some help opening it up. What DELICIOUS SMELLS snaked out to my nose - much better than G-L-O-V-E, that's for sure!

Here I am investigating what the contents could possibly be!

Urging little grandpeep to "GET IT OPEN!!!"

OHHHH! Sniffs - Mmmmmm - smells sooooo yummers!

What a GREAT card! It says, "MASON DIXIE WISHES YOU A SPEEDY RECOVERY SO YOU'LL SOON BE BACK TO CHASING BALLS."

And look at THESE! Made with WILD salmon - can you imagine? And there's glitter all over the package, like shiny fish!

And here are some MUDDY MUTTS - Peanut 'n Carob cookies that have little balls and bones with a ribbon on the tag - these are soooooooooo cute and never mind that... smell DELICIOUS!

Here are some cute little packages - one has a pumpkin cookie (ohhhhh I love pumpkin!), and another has a beautiful chicken (my faaaaave!) goodie in it. The last has a couple of fortune cookies (man, I'm ready for a great fortune about my future!) and I begged Ma to give me one - NOW!

So Mom agreed to feed me my first "hard" food since the operation! But first...

My grandpeep read me my fortune and it is such a great one: " You care not where your human lives as long as he lives with you." Isn't that the truth? Now give me my cookie!!!!!!!!

Snarf! Got that down very quickly and OOOOOhhhhhh - so, so good after a week of baby (yuck) food! My teeth loved knashing and crunching (crunch, crunch) on something so delectibly yum-alicious - more....more!

Then, I got a couple of carob peanut cookies too! They are also so amazingly good - grandpeep wanted one, but the directions tell humans that my cookies are not to be consumed by them! Good! All the more for me! I am so grateful that Top Dog Bakery exists to make such great treats with such delicious and heathy ingredients - Wowzer are these cookies fabulocious!

Thank You SOOOOOOOO much, Mason Dixie! I prize your gift, as you can imagine and it DOES make me feel very, very happy! As you know, I love to eat - anything, apparently, but your contribution to my diet makes my mom and dad very thankful that it is so healthy and good for me! Plus, I love, love, love what I've sampled so far!
And I AMMMM feeling so much better - each day a little spunkier and moving a little better! I get to have my stitches out next Friday and cannot wait for that day to come!
With Hugs and xxxxxx,
Sammie

True Colors

I directed Mom to these items, only one is more brown, which is cheating, but we had to post that one (hint: the last one)! I am feeling well enough to trot outdoors now - yay! I wear an old "Space Jam t-shirt (and sometimes a soft cone - yucky thing that is!) both of which keep me from scratching and biting at my itchy stitches. Basically, I still rest lots and eat babyish foods, but I am way better than I was a week ago! Yahoo! Onward with beige things we found around the home here...xo Sammie

Babysitter Honey!

This is Honey. She came over to be my Nana yesterday while Mama had to go to work. She did a pawsome job! Check out what Honey did to deck me out with all my toys that I can't reach at this point!

This is the picture that I used to make my "red nose" entry.

Thanks, Honey, fur taking such good care of me. Honey: "you are an exhausting doggie to care for!"

Progress and Pressies...

Hi...
I feel so blessed.

I wanted my mom to make a quickie post to say humongous thanks again for all the well-wishing from so many doggies and other furry creatures (as well as your parents, too, of course). It means so much to me and I’m going to make an attempt at directing Mom to visit some of your blogs today to see what you’ve all been up to. Then I’ll dictate some commentary to Ma.

Doorbell does not ring, but Mom finds this and beautiful flowers on the mat. Thank you Honey!

I love this card too! What a happy Boston Terrier!

I had a pretty good night, but my stitches bothered me a little. Still, I actually ate two little jars of turkey baby food off of Ma’s index finger and kept it down. This is really good news. I’ve had lots of water and meds too and have also kept these down.

Golden Honey stopped by last evening, but never rang the doorbell. Imagine my surprise when we found the above on the mat. How gorgeous! Thank you so, so much Honey – I love tulips – especially “golden” ones and they are cheering me up! How sweet. And my pals at Pet Express sent a doggie carrot cookie home with Mom yesterday. I’ll love digging into that in a couple of weeks! Thank you, kind ladies at P.E. so much! I’ll keep you updated, but for now, I’m finally getting to visit some of your blogs.

Huge Hugs and So Many Thanks xo

Sammie

Home from the Hospital

I finally got home from the hospital this morning. I’m too weak and tired to move around or express joy by vigorous tail wags, but my peeps know I’m really glad to be in my bed. I got a bandana from the vet techs, a neat get well "card" from Paco and Milo and some flowers from a friend. What happened is a long story, so I’ll try to shorten it. You know a lot about how it all started already.

I had surgery yesterday morning to remove a piece of glove that I just couldn’t get up myself. No wonder I couldn’t. When they went in to remove the obstruction, they found that a piece of thread from the glove had unraveled and curled itself around a part of my bowel. Unfortunately, the thread was still attached to the piece of glove that was stuck behind a “flap” in my intestine, so the thread kept tightening around my bowel and threatened to sever it in two.
I spent about two hours in surgery but they removed it all and saved it for me to see later. Everything got sewn up again and I’ve basically been trying to recover ever since. I’ve had a lot of shots – for rehydration and electrolytes and other ones to “calm” my tummy.

On left, pieces I got up. Lower right: intact glove. In baggie is the thread that was attached to stuck glove piece.

Now I am just working on getting sleep, keeping small laps of water and meds down and more sleep. If I can keep the water and this “magic” drug, as my doc calls it – sucralfate (http://www.medicinenet.com/sucralfate/article.htm), then I’ll feel much better. And then, if I’m able to follow through on all of the above, I may try some senior dog soup later – maybe. Right now though, I’m panting a lot from the meds I’m “coming off of,” as the vet just told my mom, and trying to sleep, but it’s hard. I’m just anxious and antsy even though my peeps are right by my side.

So that’s the tale of my past week. It was not fun, but I look forward to being back to my bouncy self very soon. I want to thank every furry creature and your moms and dads for stopping by to leave me such huge amounts of love and support. My peeps have learned a lot this last week and appreciate the good advice from some of you as well. We extend enormous amounts of gratitude and hugs.

Sammie's Mom Here...

Hi kind blogger pals. Sam's doing okay, but she's not out of the woods yet. We are still reeling from her antics on Monday and making strides at figuring out how to do things differently. Tomorrow morning, she returns, yet again for the fourth day in a row, to the V-E-T for another evaluation. If she refuses food (huh?) again tonight, an endoscope seems to be one possibility. Just talked to her doc and he will figure out where to go from here tomorrow. (She upchuckies everything from water to 1 tsp of wet food, which she basically refuses anyway - good girl.) Thank you for all your nice words - Sam'll be jumping and playing again soon. That we do know.
Thanks for all the kind words,
Bill and Miche

The Upshot...

Thanks for all your very pawsome comments. If my peeps are so dumb as to leave out goodies for me to avail myself of, then they deserve the problems I develop - hehe. Luckily I am really okay, but it's taken 24 hours for my peeps and the V-E-T to understand what I did! Nobody could believe I might be able to consume a leather glove (dummies) but after a walk this afternoon (on leash again... how I hate leashes!), I got into the car and we had a wild ride home. Upchucky all over the back of the car, then more calls to the V-E-T, who prohibited me from having any FOOD tonight (imagine!). Then I asked to go out and ate more grass - Mom heeled me right back onto the sofa. A few minutes late, I upchuckied again. I think that was it.

Mom donned HER gloves and started sorting through (this is gross!) my various detritus. She found five leather fingers and an assortment of pieces that look like jerky. She says she's going to create a shadow box for the V-E-T with the "pieces" along with the intact Right glove (ha-rooooo!). And hopefully, that's the end of this installment regarding my latest attempt at directing tons of attention towards me, Sammie -- thanks -- for that is what I love more than anything. My mom and dad also thank you for your kind and funny comments. I'm so lucky to be okay.

Mischief...

Momma went to work this morning after we spent an evening preparing a package for a certain Italian duo of pals who either have or had birthdays. It was our first foray into the world of blogging buddies birthday greetings, but I think I got off on the wrong paw. My mom and I found some goodies that we (I) love and on Sunday, we packed them up. Mom was going to mail the package on Monday, but she was running late and left the unopened package behind when she went to work. She forgot that I have an awesome tracking shnoz for all things edible and squeakable. By the time she returned from wherever it is that she goes, I'd consumed my Italian friends' goodies. Mom seemed panicked. I wasn't feeling too good. And, I'd played with my buddies' toys as well! You can imagine the terror I felt when Mom came home! OMD!

Mom loaded me in the car, cause my belly was so swollen, and hauled me off to the V-E-T, who I happen to like a lot, cause he gives me the awesome treats after we're done. Not THIS time! I got something called x-rays, cause Mom told him that I ate Dad's glove as well as everything else, and then got a "SHOT" to "calm" my tummy. Yuck! It seemed like days before Mom came back to get me, so I jumped up on her and the V-E-T said I needed to stop doing that. I've had a good nap now, and Dad just came home and ON LEASH, we walked around the block, as the good V-E-T said we must. No offleash partying for me today and worse, no dinner - ARGGHHHHHHH!!! Be back with you all soon.

Loves and Licks,

xo Sammie

I will be OKay, but feeling a bit under the weather. Love you all.

Monday Captions

Doggies! Stretch out and start your mental engines for this one, kindly sent by Mason Dixie (Thanks Mason Dixie, for the opportunity to let others mock, er.... comment on how lovely you are!) Have fun and be sure to send me your pictures to samanthae17@gmail.com.

Okay, I'll admit I like to lie on this sofa, which is my right. I am allowed to sleep in this place, but I'm not partial to sharing with the foul furry thing. I had to get back at her and I did good - see what you think!

Hah!

Captions Button

Hi Everydoggie! Thanks so much for the supportive feedback on my captions idea. You made me Harooo ( as Khyra and others say...) so much that I think we'll continue doing this. As Mom wrote in my last post, you can also send me your pix to be "captioned" if you have some at Samanthae17@gmail.com and we'll have tons of fun with this.

If you want one of Mom's feeble attempts at the capture button, here it is to copy and paste. Let Mom know if it doesn't work. I hope it does, cause Mom might not know how to fix the problem - you already know about her computing skills hehe! Happy Thursday and Lotsa Love and Licks xo Sammie

Thursday True Colors!

Don't you love it? The Marinwood Fire Station has a great sense of humor!

First of all, I want to thank all of you witty doggies whose comments were outrageously funny on the captions post! I think I'll keep doing this and may ask you pups to contribute hilarious pix to comment on too - good idea? I'll be posting Mom's (not creative) button by Friday evening, so that if you want, you can post it to your blogs as extremely worthy contributors to this "meme"? And now I want to start adding to the True Colors meme today, because I not only love the color violet, but because I love the world's colors.

So after Mom came home after work, I got my hour's worth of kong chasing. Then we went for a walk, photographing all the violets in my local world. Then we had to get Mom's grandpeep in West Marin county, where we found a fabulous homemade kite! Then we had to stop and photograph the house where little grandpeeps lived for about a year. It's... violet!
